About this newsletter

Viral Transmissions is my attempt to pay back the investment that was made by the US National Institutes of Health in my training as an emerging disease virologist. The newsletter began as my effort to provide freely-available information on the COVID-19 pandemic from an apolitical, scientifically-driven standpoint, and has grown into a wider science communication project about all viral illnesses.

I am also committed to keeping the newsletter as free as possible; while you are invited to become a paid subscriber, it is not required and most content will be freely available. Paid subscriptions support my ability to create a higher quality of newsletter for everyone, and I thank those who have been able to financially support this project.
